About us

Senior people you can borrow, without the agency around them.

We met building software for a large bank in Belfast. Rory was untangling its integrations and Amy was redesigning the tools staff used every day. We kept noticing that the biggest wins weren't the shiny projects. They were the ones where we removed a tedious manual step and got a few hundred people an hour back each week.

Smaller businesses have exactly the same problems, but they don't have an IT department to fix them. So we started Borrowd to give them the same senior expertise, without the overheads, account managers or six-month procurement process. The name is the idea: you borrow us for as long as you need us.

Rory Hamilton

Co-founder · Senior software engineer

Rory has spent over a decade on back-end systems, integrations, architecture and cloud computing, mostly in fintech and logistics. He’s happiest when two systems that “can’t be connected” are quietly exchanging data at 3am. He’s also known for explaining APIs using the Belfast bus network.

Amy Long

Co-founder · Senior web developer, UX & UI

Amy is a senior web developer who designs and builds the parts of software people actually touch. She runs our process-mapping workshops, turns the sticky notes into screens and makes sure the tools we ship get used rather than worked around. She has strong opinions about form labels.

How we work

A few things we won't compromise on

Based in Belfast

Local when you want us. Remote when you don't.

We're happy to come and sit with your team anywhere in Northern Ireland, and we regularly travel to Dublin and across Great Britain for workshops. Day to day, we work remotely and keep in touch on whatever you already use, whether that's Teams, Slack or a phone call.

Say hello. We don't bite.
