A flooring marketplace that keeps its own stock in sync

How an SPC flooring company started selling across the UK online, with every sale and every stock level flowing through Xero automatically.

The problem

The company wanted to sell SPC flooring to customers across the UK, both on its own site and through the B&Q marketplace. Selling in more than one place meant stock had to be right in all of them.

Keeping stock levels up to date by hand across a website, a marketplace and the accounts is slow, and it is easy to sell something that has run out.

What we did

  1. Step 1

Made Xero the single source of truth

Xero holds the stock levels, so everything else reads from it rather than keeping its own count.

  2. Step 2

    Built the marketplace website

A storefront for selling SPC flooring to customers across the UK, with the product range, pricing and ordering all in one place.

  3. Step 3

    Took payments with Stripe

Customers pay by card through Stripe, and each order is recorded against the right stock in Xero.

  4. Step 4

    Connected the B&Q marketplace

Stock levels are shared with the B&Q listing automatically, so the same stock can be sold in both places without overselling.

The result

Stock levels are managed in Xero and update across the website and B&Q automatically, with no manual updating.

The company can sell across the UK on its own site and on B&Q without anyone reconciling stock between them.
